Mr. David Wakyiku, AIMS South Africa 2011 alumnus, is the Managing Director at ASIGMA – a management and financial advisory firm in Kampala, Uganda, that leverages data and technology to add value to organisations. He leads ASIGMA’s Advisory and Data arms while co-managing Capital projects. He started his investment career at Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Ltd in London, England as a Quantitative Strategist. He later joined BlueCrest Capital Management (UK) LLP, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund, as a Trading Analyst on the foreign exchange derivatives desk. He finally returned to Africa to join Ascent Capital, a private equity firm in Nairobi, Kenya.
Mr. Wakyiku was a Victor Rothschild Scholar in Mathematical Finance at AIMS South and the recipient of an internship at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland. He later attended the University of Cambridge as a Commonwealth Cambridge Scholar, where he received a Master’s of Advanced Study in Mathematics. He pursued further study in financial derivatives and computing at the London Business School and University College London as an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Scholar. He is a certified Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
