Meet our Alumni

AIMS is proud to have produced over 2200 graduates, 32% of whom are women. Our alumni represent 43 countries and are serving as leaders in academia, industry and research. Here are some of our alumni.

Tendai Mugwagwa
“AIMS changed my view of science. Before, I used to see mathematics as a set of problems that needed solving, but now it is a set of tools that I can use to solve other life problems,” Tendai.
Tabitha Gathoni Mundia
In 2012, Tabitha joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group as a Risk Analyst, a position she currently holds in the headquarters of the bank in Washington DC.
Sophie Tsinampoizina
“I dream of leading change in thinking on how best to tackle climate and other development challenges. Mathematics can be used daily to create solutions that are both efficient and reliably,” Sophie.
Siaka Lougue
“AIMS is a place for those who really believe and want to be part of the pioneers to use education, mathematics skills and hard work to transform Africa from a home to war and diseases to a continent of peace, innovation and glory,”Siaka
Richard Oppong Kimi
“AIMS has given me the confidence to do things on my own without having to rely on other people to employ me. One can create a whole new world for themselves by identifying gaps and providing solutions,”Richard Oppong.
Olive Dushime
Olive started a factory that produces breakfast supplements from maize. The project aims is to provide implementable solutions to food security in the country and has been awarded for Best Innovative Project from the Rwanda Innovation Endowment Fund – 2014.
Oladele Temitope Mary
Oladele is passionate about imparting significant knowledge by giving back into the society through teaching. She believes the passion being created in these young minds will facilitate finding the next African Einstein faster..
Nasejje Justine
“AIMS changed my view of mathematics as a theoretical subject of proving lemmas and corollaries to a very practical subject in real life,”Justine.
Laila El Ghandour
“I believe AIMS has transformed mine and all graduates’ lives. If the institute continues to reach more young talented scientists, I am confident that the next Einstein will truly be African!”Says Laila.
Kwabena Owusu
Owusu says that his time at AIMS prepared him for the world of work and study. He developed a strong aptitude for problem solving, analytical thinking for tackling complex problems, and the ability to work independently.
Jonathan Kwame Doku
Mr Kwame graduated from AIMS Ghana in 2013 and through the AIMS Industry Initiative program, he got the opportunity to be work at Itemate Solutions (a South African IT consultancy firm) as a Project Consultant.
James Malm
Passionate about the legal environment and corporate financial policies, James hopes to contribute to the development of financial markets in Africa and other regions of the world.
Hind Ahmed
Ahmed’s research interests are in Nano-technology and Applied Physics and Engineering, with focus on how to use these technologies to address humanity’s biggest problems, such as the creation and access to energy, food, and water.

Frederic Ntirenganya
Frederick (Rwanda) designed a software to collate years of climate data into meaningful information that can be used to better understand weather trends.
Francis Feehi Torgbor

Chika Yinka-Banjo
In her research at AIMS, Dr. Chika developed a model that ensures that autonomous robots are able to detect and avoid obstacles as they carry out various tasks assigned to them.

Antoine Tambue

Andree Mentho Nenkam
“My main activities include crop modelling, capacity building of the national meteorological agency of Mali with statistical skills, capacity building of extension officers with a new approach, PICSA, to provide climate advice to farmers.”~Andree says.

Alice’s research interests are in solar energy and how it can be harnessed for lighting systems.
