On 18 May 2017, an AIMS delegation visited the University of Southampton as part of the initiation of a new For Excellence partnership. Earlier in March, a Southampton delegation visited AIMS South Africa and participated in a signing ceremony for the partnership.
This visit to Southampton gave local faculty, staff, and students the opportunity to learn more about AIMS and its programs. In addition to a financial contribution to AIMS by the University, the partnership includes a variety of academic exchange items involving faculty and students of both organisations. Events during the day included several meetings highlighted by an AIMS information session attended by numerous interested representatives from the University of Southampton community, followed by a casual conclusion with some of the group at a local pub. The AIMS delegation included Prof. David Kribs (International Academic Advisor), Ms Dawn MacDonald (ForExcellence Program Manager), Ms. Caroline Chiwah (AIMS-UK Finance), and Dr Tendai Mugwagwa (AIMS alum, Public Health England & Imperial College London).
