Mapping of mixed cropping intensity in smallholder plots
- Host Institution:
ICRISAT | agCelerant-Kano, Nigeria
2. Supervisors:
Pierre C. Sibiry Traore | Hakeem A. Ajeigbe | Kyle Davis
3. Project Description:
Smallholders manage risk and optimize returns through mixed and relay cropping, complicating the interpretation of the remote sensing signal. This internship will assess the potential of new high resolution optical sensors for estimating the presence of multiple crops in individual smallholder plots, informing the agCelerantTM TARGET service module and contributing to the CASCAID (CCAFS) and HEURISTICS (Habitus) projects.
4. Expected outcome:
Automated quantification of mixed cropping intensity helps estimate yield and target services to smallholders.
