Isabel Lugão Rios is a Mathematics Professor at the Mathematics and Statistics Institute of the Fluminense Federal University in Niterói close to Rio de Janeiro. She completed her PhD at IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada) in Rio de Janeiro and is a leading international expert in the field of Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory, where she has made many interesting contributions. She has worked and collaborated with colleagues in China, France, Italy, the UK, the US, as well as in several South American countries. She has supervised a number of masters and PhD students and is keenly involved in contributing to the development and growth of young mathematicians. Isabel has a close interest in the AIMS Network and has taught at the AIMS Centres in Ghana and Cameroon.
