Modelling (and quantifying) the economic value of climate services for farmers

Host Institution: International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).

 Location:  KG 563 ST, P.O. Box 1269, Kacyiru, Kigali, Rwanda.

 Supervisors: Dr. Desire M. Kagabo (Ph.D), Scientist, Climate Services for Agriculture, CIAT (The research team from CIAT or CCAFS, IRI, University of Reading working with the Rwanda Climate Services for Agriculture Project will be available to supervise the interns).

Project Description :

Based on a number of farmers who have adopted the climate services, estimate the economic value of their decisions using appropriate statistical modelling. This will make use of at least 2 quantitative data sets with support from qualitative data. Establish parameters for valuing the services and construct and test a model using available data.   Identify inherent or potential household and farm level trade-offs in outcomes.
