Project Description :
HYDRILAK stands for “Hydrological regime and water quality of major influent rivers of Lake Kivu”. The research project will consist in (1) assessment of the hydrological regime at annual cycle of the major tributaries of Lake Kivu, (2) assessment of the water quality and quantity and their variation with time, (3) geo-referencing of flood and erosion prone areas using GIS, remote sensing and DEM (30.0), (4) suggestion of possible solution for predictions and prevention of flood risks as well as advising about the conditions to maintain good water quality in the rivers for sustainable use of the Lake ecosystems.
The project will be financed by REG/EDCL/LKMP and implemented by ISP/Bukavu (RDC), and INES Ruhengeri (Rwanda).
