Agricultural landscape stratification using granular biophysical and socio-economic data

Host institution: ICRISAT / agCelerant-Mali, Bamako

Supervisors :Pierre C. Sibiry Traore / Cedric Champenois / Daniel Annerose

Project Description:
Inter-farm variability in management is the first determinant of yield variation in African smallholder agriculture. Yet, traditionally more importance is given to secondary factors such as soil type and climate in characterizing the production landscape. This internship will exploit the full power of plot and household level data streamed by the agCelerantTM digital smallholder value chain orchestration platform to develop intelligent workflow automation for agricultural landscape stratification, contributing to the NADiRA innovation action and the CASCAID 2.0 (CCAFS) project.

Expected outcome:

Appropriate stratification of agricultural smallholder landscapes allows improved market segmentation, performance and compliance monitoring.
