3. Project Description:

Lake Kivu Monitoring Programme (LKMP) checks potential impacts of methane extraction on Lake Kivu and its environment. Monitoring exercise includes processing large amount of data measured with CTDs instruments during monitoring campaigns carried out on the Lake. For this LKMP developed an automated common and repetitive keystrokes (Macros) used in Excel to create and easily process data. The existing macro needs to be upgraded for a better performance. Therefore, LKMP is intending to strengthen its capacity in development of an adequate data processing tool, in collaboration with competent intern(s). The purpose of this assignment is to upgrade the macros Excel of LKMP to the latest technology with the following main objectives:

i) Assessment of the existing data processing tool (macros Excel).

ii) Documentation of the findings.

iii) Design and development of the data processing tool.

iv) Implementation and testing of the tool.

v) Manual development and training.

vi) Final report including typical errors and their solutions.

4. Expected Outcomes:

At the end of the project, the following outcomes should be available:

i) Operational data processing tool for CTDs measurements.

ii) Documented procedures of data processing tool.

iii) Development of the user manual for the data processing tool.

iv) Final report of the assignment.

Applications for this internship should be submitted via the online application system, stating clearly the title of the internship.
