Comparison of the use and contribution of weather and climate products into national development (in Agriculture productivity, infrastructure development and in disease control) for the last 5 years

3. Project Description:

This project will do the inventory of weather and climate products generated by Meteo Rwanda, describe the products features and list their specific users; and the channel of dissemination by each products; gathering relevant government strategies, policies, interventions and obligations that relates to weather and climate information; conduct analysis of the usage of these information in the key sectors Agriculture, Infrastructure and disease control for the last five years; produce results and publish them on selected journals and on other channels after official validation.

4. Expected Outcomes:

An idea on the contribution of weather and climate information that is produced and disseminated by Meteo Rwanda

  1. Understand how users perceive the available weather and climate information from Meteo Rwanda;
  2. Learn users’ needs for improvement or new products requirements;
  3. Inform decision makers on the value of weather and climate information and its actual and potential contribution in the country development;
  4. Have the basis on how much to invest in generating and disseminating weather and climate information by Meteo Rwanda
