At the AIMS Alumni Meet-Up held on Saturday, 21st May 2022, at the Impact Hub, Lagos, the story of a young lady was the highlight of the event. Being fascinated by the idea behind the establishment of AIMS, a concept that seeks to raise Africans to solve African problems, this lady was determined to be part of this dream future of Africa. Having gone through the rigorous application and selection process of AIMS, she finally got into AIMS Ghana in the 2017/18 academic year and the experiences during and after her time at AIMS that this video summarises. With interest in Graph Theory and Data Science, Ebimoboere applies her mathematical skills in modelling real-life situations in industries and provides solutions. Beyond her study at AIMS Ghana, she was selected among a few alumni in 2019 to be part of the AIMS-ESMT Industry Immersion Program in South Africa. She was also privileged to be part of the Mathematical Science for Climate Resilience program. This program gathers a critical mass of mathematical scientists to contribute to climate change solutions for Africa.
Ebimoboere is a microinsurance specialist who supports the development of index-based insurance products and other climate risk management strategies for smallholder farmers.
In this video, Ebimoboere shares with us her AIMS experience, her take on how AIMS is contributing to the economy of Nigeria and her position on the search for the Next Einstein. Beyond studying mathematics, she is developing her skills as a writer and proofreader. In her free time, she enjoys sewing and practising yoga.
