AI prediction of water distribution incidents in water distribution networks

AI prediction of water distribution incidents in water distribution networks

Host institution: ICRISAT / UtilitY85-Senegal, Dakar

Supervisors: Daniel Annerose / Cedric Champenois / Pierre C. Sibiry Traore

Project Description:
Reliable detection of leaks and contamination in water distribution networks (WDN) are critical to uninterrupted drinking water availability and quality, and to the sustainable business operations of water utilities. Early warning about the likelihood of such incidents requires detection algorithms capable of predicting such events with accuracy. To that effect, this internship will develop AI algorithms from infrastructure specification and dynamic maintenance data relayed by the UtilitY85TM digital WDN management platform to improve WDN operations and public good service.

Expected outcome:

AI and machine learning help EO, IoT and mobile2web platforms reduce water losses and unsafe water distribution in rural and urban distribution systems.
