Networking is critical for scientific growth, knowledge circulation, internalization, exposure to cutting-edge research topics, access to research infrastructure, and to facilitate research uptake and break through discoveries. It is on these foundations and others that the Research Department at AIMS has established the AIMS Mobility Grants Program.

The program will provide opportunities to mathematical science researchers to visit AIMS Research Centres of Excellence across Africa for periods of 2 – 4 weeks. It seeks to build on the ‘research-in-groups’ and ‘research-in-pairs’ component of the AIMS Visiting Research Fellows program. This program requires visiting researchers to work collaboratively with in-country researchers during their stay at AIMS.

Grantees within the mobility grant program are expected to participate in at least one scientific event (conference, workshop, summer school, scientific meeting) in addition to the time spent at AIMS.

The program is open to AIMS and non-AIMS postgraduate research students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers, and recipients of awards from AIMS. Applicants may be required to meet certain requirements to qualify for specific grants.

Applications are also welcomed from self-funded candidates.
