EO reducing rainfed smallholder field delineation costs
- Host Institution:
ICRISAT | agCelerant-Senegal, Dakar, Senegal - Supervisors :
Pierre C. Sibiry Traore | Steven Ndung’u | Cedric Champenois - Project Description:
Accurate predictions of production levels in heterogeneous smallholder agriculture require precise estimates of planted and harvested areas and of other agronomic management information. This internship will exploit results obtained using semantic and instance segmentation algorithms applied on very high-resolution imagery for insertion inside the agCelerant TM workflows, contributing to the CASCAID (CCAFS) and HEURISTICS (Habitus) projects. - Expected outcome:
Smallholder plot boundaries are delineated more economically, lowering the cost of serving skillful estimates of aggregate production to agricultural off-takers.
