Chief Financial Officer

Lalit Varma is the chief financial officer of AIMS. He is responsible for global finance, budgeting, fiscal transparency, accountability and audit processes for all AIMS entities. He also oversees and coordinates the implementation of network financial management procedures and policies.

Lalit has two decades of experience as a senior financial executive, leading global financial management roles in the non-profit industry. During 10 years as global director for one of Canada’s top 10 international NGOs, Lalit and his team transformed the organisation into one that achieved Deloitte and Touches’ highest industry-specific rating for audits every year since 2003. Lalit was responsible for managing and overseeing the finances for 26 country programs across four continents. He has led and managed complex financial accounting systems for international NGOs with multiple funding streams. Lalit has worked with DfAD, DfID, USAID, SIDA, EU, NORAD and SDC funders. He managed and oversaw global annual budgets of over $5O million.

Lalit has earned accreditations including his CPA, FCMA, CIMA, CISA and ACS. He is also USAID Rules and Regulations certified by the Association of PVO Financial Managers.
