The MasterCard Foundation and AIMS both see the tremendous potential of young people in Africa and believe that when given access to education, these young people will become a source of home-grown scientific discoveries and innovations that will drive African economies and solve global challenges.
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at AIMS is a six-year partnership which will focus on:
- A cooperative education program in Senegal which will also give students valuable on-the-job experience.
- A teacher training program in Cameroon which will train over 3,000 pre and in-service teachers in mathematics education. We estimate that these teachers will go on to teach STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects to about 1.7 million secondary school students in Cameroon.
