AIMS Canada engages the Canadian public on gender equality

Over the past few months, AIMS Canada participated in several public engagement activities. On 18 November 2017, Karen Craggs-Milne, AIMS Global Group Director, Gender Equality, Inclusion and Business Development, was invited to deliver a keynote speech on SDG 5 and targets for achieving Gender Equality during the Peace by Piece 2017 Youth Summit organized by the Toronto YMCA. Over 140 youth from Leadership Development and Newcomer programs were engaged on AIMS’s role and leadership in addressing gender equality in sciences.

AIMS Canada also supported capacity building across the development sector in Canada by providing training and webinars on gender equality and inclusion and transformative programming.  Karen Craggs-Milne facilitated workshops for the members of the MCIC, Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (15-17 November 2017), the international development organization Development and Peace (28 November 2017) and the Inter-Council Network, a Canadian coalition of eight provincial and regional Councils for International Cooperation (11 December 2017). Throughout these training sessions, more and more Canadian NGOs are learning about how AIMS is using non-traditional investments to achieve SDG 5 and how to bring transformative gender programming in line with the new Canadian Feminist International Policy.
